Orestina
In the lands of Orestina, at Brejinho Estate, every coffee bean is a testament to the affection, dedication, and tradition that permeate the 49 hectares. It's a story intertwined with the fertile soil and deep roots found there.
Geraldo always harbored a passion for coffee, a passion shared by his wife, Orestina. Even after his departure two decades ago, Orestina and her sons, Aldo and Lucas, decided to embrace this shared dream, becoming the guardians of the legacy left by Geraldo.
With the dedicated help of their sons, the farm flourished, adopting sustainable practices over the years. They embraced the method of ecological mowing, minimizing the use of herbicides only between the rows of coffee plants. Carefully, they allow vegetation to grow under the shade of the plants, then mow it, depositing organic material onto the soil, especially under the coffee plants. This process promotes valuable nutrient cycling, enriching the soil and improving its structure through plant rooting and facilitating water infiltration.
And not only their sons but also the wives of the employees play a crucial role on the farm. Orestina values the presence of women, who work alongside their husbands, equally contributing to the success of the production. For her, it's important to have equal wages, recognizing the value and importance of everyone's work, regardless of gender.
We invite you to connect with the humanity behind coffee, exploring the unique essence of coffee farms that capture not only the beauty of nature, but also the richness of culture and the dedicated effort of coffee farmers.
